School Counseling Mission & Vision
The mission of River Trail Middle School is to advance student creativity, critical thinking and citizenship by engaging students in educational and social opportunities through school and community collaboration.
The River Trail Middle School counseling department will engage all students in a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes equity, access and success for all. Students are encouraged to pursue academic rigor and inspired to be academically and behaviorally successful, respectful, kind, and problem-solving members of their community.
Schedule Changes
If your student needs a schedule change, please contact your student's grade level counselor via email.

Please note that approval of course changes are determined by class availability set through the 2024-2025 Master Schedule. If a course change is made, the rest of the student's schedule may be adjusted to accommodate the class.
Please note, submitting a request does not automatically guarantee your request will be approved.
There needs to be a valid reason for the change to occur.
Examples of a valid schedule change request:
- Missing a period
- Scheduled for a duplicate class within the same quarter
- Scheduled for the wrong grade level.
- Placement change needed for more appropriate course level *supporting documentation may be needed*
Examples of invalid schedule change requests:
- Changing a teacher
- Changing to eat lunch with friends
- Changing to be with friends
- Changing to have a class during a different time of day
Please allow time for the Counseling Team to make changes.

Who is The Summit Counseling Center?
These services are provided through a partnership between Fulton County, Fulton County Schools, and The Summit Counseling Center (The Summit), a non-profit organization with 30 years of experience helping children and families. The Summit has been providing school-based services since 2015 and works with the following school systems: Fulton and Dekalb.

Counseling services can be a positive support to all students with a wide range of needs.
Over time, these services can help students:
- Cope with their feelings (such as anger, anxiety, depression, grief).
- Better manage negative reactions and intense emotions.
- Improve focus in the classroom and on academic work.
- Maintain better relationships with family, friends, and school staff.
- Understand and learn better ways of responding to challenges and traumatic life events.
