Colleen Cowan: My name is Ms. Cowan, and this is my 4th year teaching. I grew up in Woodstock, GA. I graduated from KSU with a degree in Secondary Education in History. I have taught high school and middle school social studies. I am part of the Harry Potter Club, Culinary Club, and Cultural Awareness Committee here at RTMS. In my free time I enjoy reading, doing puzzles, and trying new and exciting places to eat. I look forward to an exciting year with my students as we explore the world through the lens of Social Studies!

Michelle Levesque: My name is Michelle Levesque. As hard as it is to believe, this is my 29th year of teaching~  I was previously an elementary teacher, spending most of my career with 5th graders. I grew up in Somers, Connecticut. I have a Bachelor of Science in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in Reading and Language Arts from California State University. I have taught in California, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi before moving to Georgia in 2007. I enjoy reading, watching home renovation shows on HGTV and Magnolia, hiking, and going on road trips. I am looking forward to an amazing year with your child!

Grace Hernandez: This is my 11th year teaching and my 7th at RTMS. I currently live in Lawrenceville with my husband, son, and dog. Education has always been a part of me; I’m a lifelong learner! I love to be in school and I make it my mission for students to feel motivated to come and enjoy learning as much as possible. As a former Language Arts teacher, I feel that reading and writing is important in all subjects and the more you do it, the better you become. Social Studies is my favorite thing to teach as it is so important to understand where we come from and how our world has evolved to our present. I like to summarize Social Studies with a quote from Anne Frank, “How wonderful it is that no one need wait a single moment before improving the world.”

Casey Morgan: My name is Casey Morgan, and I am looking forward to my 11th year teaching (3rd at River Trail). I began my career teaching all subjects in elementary school (primarily 5th grade) but moved to RTMS to pursue my passion for teaching social studies. I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in elementary education with an emphasis in literacy. As a social studies teacher, my goal is to empower all of my students to become critical thinkers and global citizens. At RTMS, I am the Social Studies Department Chair and the sponsor of the K-Pop club. Outside of school, I love reading, spending time with my ancient cat Tosh, and reforming vintage clothes!
